The Lighthouse Children and Families 2018 cocktail event brings together more than 500 guests and gathers $566,253

Montreal, March 20th, 2018 – The 17th edition of The Lighthouse Children and Families cocktail event brought together again this year the charity’s vibrant community. More than 500 guests attended the ocean-themed event, referring to the odyssey of families and children benefiting from pediatric palliative care.

Thanks to the support and determination of the evening’s copresidents, Ms Sophie Desmarais and Mr. Éric Bujold, President, National Bank Private Banking 1859, the event gathered a total amount of $566,253, to support the costs of care and services to children and families of The Lighthouse. This success, stemming from the support of 42 generous partners and numerous contributions through an impressive 143-item auction, is greatly due to the dedication of the 15-member strong Honorary Committee, and to the efforts of more than 100 volunteers – some of which are parents and grand-parents of sick children, who all came together again this year to lend a hand in the purest of Lighthouse traditions.

Under the energetic and thoughtful direction of host Mr Patrick Langlois, the event gave way to emotion when, with a beautiful artistic video of daily life at The Lighthouse, Mr Matt Holubowski interpreted his song “La mer Mon pere”, with Ms Ariane Moffatt who expressed her support to families of The Lighthouse. The Chairman of the Board of The Lighthouse, Mr François Gratton, Executive Vice-President and President, Business Solutions East and TELUS Quebec, dedicated this presentation to the charity’s cofounders, Mrs Michelle Viau-Chagnon and Mrs Nicole Marcil-Gratton, with the 10th anniversary of the opening of The Lighthouse’s André-Gratton House.

The Lighthouse Children and Families annual cocktail event

The Lighthouse Children and Families is Quebec’s pediatric palliative care hospice. Each year, the cocktail evening is a vital fundraising event to support The Lighthouse’s activities. A Canadian registered charity, The Lighthouse must raise 55% of its annual budget. Funds gathered with the event will go toward personalised care, programming for children and families, support to families and training for care providers.
